Welcome to Hyde Park

The perfect blend of urban and suburban lifestyles

In Hyde Park, everything you need and wish for is at your fingertips. This peaceful, walkable neighborhood exudes a luxurious feel, making even the most mundane errands a breeze. The historic area offers upscale dining, shopping, and entertainment. It’s easy to find something for everyone, from families to young professionals to their pets!

The Hyde Park area was first subdivided and developed in 1886 by O.H. Platt, who named the neighborhood after his hometown of Hyde Park in Illinois. Residents flocked to the area after the first Hillsborough River bridge was constructed in 1888, and over the next several decades, the area flourished and ultimately transformed into today’s enticing blend of old and new.

Quiet streets are lined with gorgeous, custom-built homes that are pleasingly close to premium shopping and dining. You’ll see simple Craftsman, classic Colonial Revival, and contemporary Vernacular styles represented by the various bungalows, mansions, single-family homes, and condominiums.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

You need not go far for a great meal, an afternoon of boutique shopping, or even live music in Hyde Park. The social hub of the neighborhood is undoubtedly Hyde Park Village, which features six blocks of locally owned and internationally known retail shops situated alongside world-class restaurants fit for a discerning gourmet clientele. This modern, open-air oasis boasts bold art installations and peaceful fountains. This is the perfect space to run errands, grab lunch, or head to after the workday for cocktails or a free fitness class.

One of the best eateries in the Village, Meat Market is a stylish steakhouse in a 6,000-square-foot space with camel-leather banquettes and eye-catching light fixtures. After your meal, you can switch gears at the sexy and sophisticated Lounge by Meat Market, open every weekend.

Pair local history with a perfectly aged steak at Bern’s Steak House, a Tampa institution since 1956 that is home to one of the largest wine collections in the world. The dessert room alone is famous around the world. Celebrate a special occasion, or just treat yourself royally at this highly lauded restaurant, where dinner can include cut-to-order prime steaks, locally grown vegetables, and, yes, an extraordinary dessert collection, including strawberry key lime tart and a 12-layer chocolate cake!

Elevate the dinner-and-a-movie experience at the CMS CineBistro Hyde Park in the Village. Reserve your seat in an oversized reclining leather seat, and enjoy full-service, in-theater dining as you watch your film in 4k digital projection and 7.1 surround sound. Choose from American Bistro cuisine, fine wines, and signature cocktails, as well as traditional popcorn and candy.

Things to Do

There’s live music in Village Circle during the market and typically every Thursday night from April through January. The market is pet-friendly, so grab your pup and come check it out.

Hyde Park residents also love to stay active and take full advantage of the ubiquitous sunshine and balmy temperatures the area offers.
